A drypoint is a form of etching where the image is created by scratching directly onto the plate. Since no acid is needed, the metal isn't dissolved as on an etched plate, but is thrown up on each side of the line, creating a feathery, soft line. The plate is inked and printed by hand using an etching press for every print in the small limited edition.
